Jot2Press

So I created, with the help of Claude Code, an app (and a WordPress plugin) to make it faster to write and post to your blog.

Jet2Press solves a very specific use case/paint point I had. I realized almost every time I had attempted to write something I had lost motivation on my way to the official app’s editor.

Having to think of a title for an inconsequential thing in my life I wanted to log, and then thinking of a category just made me feel like what I wanted to record wasn’t worth it.

It allows you to tap on an icon in your Android’s launcher/home screen, a widget opens up with a focused textbox. You write, you tap Send, and that’s it. The title is today’s date, and the category is pre-selected in the settings (“Journal” by default). Also, the entries are set to private, also, by default.

The plugin sets up a dedicated endpoint for the app, receives the entry data as a JSON and takes care of converting it into an entry (or adds it to an existing one).

I’ve been working as a software developer for the last 8 years, but I’ve never written a line of code for a native Android app (I’ve worked a lot with Flutter, though) so this was new to me.

I’d write about the whole process behind building Jot2Press but I don’t think I’d be providing any value. It was mostly brainstorming with Claude Code to figure out exactly what features it would have, what edge cases there could be and how to handle them.

Even though I built it for my specific use case, there’s millions of people in the internet and there might be at least one more person out there that might find it useful, so here it is: https://github.com/LeoAlfaroC/Jot2Press
